The Greatest Salesman

Week 2 – Protecting subby

Who or what is subby? Why does subby need protecting?

Well, “subby” is what we in the Master Key Experience call our subconscious mind.

Picture a 5 year old autistic savant. This kid can calculate anything in an instant, but is innocent and knows nothing about life. This kid takes you literally (as five year olds do) and desperately wants to please you. All you have to do is to suggest something would help, and this kid rushes off to go do it.

Those of you who watched the free video series learned about the relationship between subby and our conscious mind, and how subby is the one who directs our actions. Like an ant on the back of an elephant, the only thing we have a chance of doing is to direct subby – there’s no way to control it (this is what “subconscious” means – we have no conscious control).

But we can give suggestions. And remember, all subby wants is to please us.

Should be easy, right?

That’s where we get in our own way.

The one thing I’ve learned in my time in the Master Key Experience is how undisciplined my conscious mind is, even now in my third year doing this. I got some notion passing through my head that maybe I didn’t need to do all this … and now my copy of Og Mandino’s The Greatest Salesman is gone, and everything with it. My DMP, my cards, my Blueprint Builder, the works. I keep it all together in a ziplock bag which has gone everywhere with me … which seems to have vanished.

Well.

I have another copy, and I’ve repeated all the things so much I have most of them memorized, so it’s okay. I’m fine. But it’s a clue-by-four to the head as to what can happen when you get careless and fail to protect your subby from suggestions about things you don’t actually want!

And it’s even worse for those of you whose minds are even more undisciplined. Fortunately, my manifestation was minor. Nothing serious happened. But it could have been much worse.

So how do you protect subby?

Mental diet.

You have to be the “watchman at the gate” keeping any unwanted influences away from this little subby of yours. It’s a never-ending job, watching what you see, what you hear, how you interpret those things.

It can be done, but it takes vigilance. It takes a determination to only consider things, to only say things, which you want manifested in your life.

But it’s worth it. On my DMP I have the idea that I become a NYT bestselling author in 2021. I have reason to believe it’s going to happen much sooner. More on that later.

This is what the members of the Master Key Experience are just barely beginning to learn about this week: their power, and their responsibility to this innocent little savant inside of them. It’s fairly daunting, yet inspiring as well.

I almost forgot to post my 2016 tribe! I’ll go do that now.

Have a great week!

Only guidance

I only pray for guidance – Og Mandino

The past few weeks in the news have been horrifying in ways I can’t even describe, even if I were brave enough to. For the people involved and their families, it’s tragic, infuriating.

I only pray for guidance.

I have light skin and code (to most people) as “white”. What should I do? Is there anything I can do? Would the things I want to do, to say, just make things worse?

I only pray for guidance.

I do not identify as a skin color. My heritage is Creole. My family looks like the people who have died the past two weeks, on both sides of the issue. I fear for the lives of my family, that a person filled with hate may look at their skin color and decide they should die.

I only pray for guidance.

I have had my own run-in with a police officer, who took away so much, merely because they could. He knew he would never be caught or tried or even accused, because he had a badge and a gun and was male and had the might of the entire world behind him, and I was a teenage girl. It was over 30 years ago and I am still afraid when I see a police car behind me. The man who did that got a pension and a long life and died “a hero” simply because he wore a uniform.

I only pray for guidance.

I understand the hate. I understand the fear. It brings me back to those days as a small child after the Civil Rights Movement, forced busing, the gangs of kids attacking others who didn’t look like them because their parents told them those people had ruined everything, caused every problem. Those kids are grown now, and so are their victims, and they both HATE. So they tell their children, and their grandchildren, to beware of those people that don’t look like them, to hate them, to fear them, to stand up for their rights to not be afraid by the use of weapons, because that’s what we as a country value above all things.

I only pray for guidance. Because everything else is up to me.

I never pray for the material things of the world. I am not calling to a servant to bring me food. I am not ordering an innkeeper to provide me with room. I never seek delivery of gold, love, good health, petty victories, fame, success, or happiness. I only pray for guidance, that I may be shown the way to acquire these things, and my prayer is always answered.

I don’t have anything inspiring to say.

What is your value?

I thought about value this morning while I read The Greatest Salesman by Og Mandino. This month’s reading talks a lot about multiplying our value, and a lot of people take that as “make more money” or “work way harder” and I’m not convinced that this is what Mandino is referring to. Does how hard you work or how much money you make determine your value? Some people think this is the case, but I disagree.

He talks about a grain of wheat which becomes many grains once it’s planted – but I don’t think it’s just about having a bunch of kids, or even “duplicating” yourself in a business sense, even if that was a possibility. That particular concept sounds like putting cement on others to me.

He talks about setting goals, but are the goals really what gives you value?

So what is your value?

You have intrinsic value from being alive, being human, giving and receiving from others in your group. But there’s more:

A field of clay touched with the genius of man becomes a castle …value-castle-917427_1920

… cannot I do the same with the clay which bears my name?

It seems to me as if this is saying it’s what we do with ourselves that makes the difference. Sure, you can eat and sleep and go to the bathroom and have kids and interact with others of your kind and do whatever you need to in order to have and get those things comfortably. But is that any different than what animals do?

It’s the genius of man, our thinking, which improves and multiplies the basic value that we’re born with.

We all know those “field of clay” people – and I certainly don’t look down on those who have no aspirations other than to eat and have kids and such. Just like the field, they have intrinsic value. They are good and useful and even beautiful in their own right. But I don’t think that you’re here because that’s what you want to be. You want to become a castle, metaphorically speaking. You want your life to be grand. You want to be a refuge of safety, an inspiration, a tower of strength, the launching point of something new and exciting and wonderful. You have dreams of making the world around you better.

Today I surpass every action which I performed yesterday. I climb today’s mountain to the utmost of my ability yet tomorrow I climb higher than today, and the next higher than tomorrow. To surpass the deeds of others is unimportant; to surpass my own deeds is all.

A lot of people believe their best days – the times when they had the most value, the most worth – were when they were in high school, or some other point in the past. To me, this is just cement.

Multiplying your value

I believe that multiplying my value means multiplying the abilities I have inside. Being able to do more than I did yesterday, last week, last year. Being more of a person than I was. Having more inner strength, more kindness, more love.

Multiplying my value means increasing my courage.

It does take courage to multiply your value, I think. That little seed needs courage to emerge from its shell. If it makes the wrong choice as to when to emerge, does so too soon, it can’t go back in. On the other hand, if it waits too long, stays in the seed, refuses to come out, it rots. But if it takes the opportunity to emerge, and persists in doing so, it can become something amazing.

Darkness

This week has gone well, and for my old blueprint, darkness tends to follow.

This time, I asked myself: Why should I feel this way when things are going well?

darknessThis month’s reading in The Greatest Salesman is about multiplying your own value. It makes the analogy of a wheat seed and how it multiplies from one to many seeds, which then multiply to many more. But in this, Og Mandino writes:

To grow and multiply it is necessary to plant the wheat grain in the darkness of the earth and my failures, my despairs, my ignorance, and my inabilities are the darkness in which I have been planted in order to ripen.

So darkness has value.

I’ve felt that darkness has value for a long time now. I feel as if much of the problems of the world are an attempt not to feel, not to think, to avoid the potentially dark areas in ourselves, as if they had some sort of power. But they only have power when ignored and suppressed, as far as I can tell.

I get the feeling that a lot of people – in and out of the Master Key Experience – are surprised or put off that one of the items on my DMP is a story which is so dark that I’ve seen people read the back cover, put it down, and walk away, saying, “I can’t read this.”

I admit, it’s not for everyone. But neither is it simply a wallow in darkness. I believe that stories have great power, and when you’re in darkness yourself having someone tell you, “see, there’s someone else here too” is a comfort that those who shy away from it will never be able to give. But you have to be willing and able to go there in order to help.

Darkness has its own beauty as well. The smallest bit of light becomes even brighter, and this is where the seed is transformed, reborn if you will, to become something it could never have been otherwise.

Do you think the seed is doing well? It’s doing what it was meant to do, becoming what it was intended to become.

I realized this week that asking why I might be in darkness when things are going well was the wrong question. The real question is: am I doing what I was meant to do? Am I becoming what I was intended to become? Am I breaking the hard crust of cement which has surrounded my life? If so, darkness might be exactly where I need to be right now. 🙂

Week 24: the truth

So what is “the truth”?

Ask twenty people and you’ll get twenty different answers, mostly involving whatever ideology was imprinted onto them as part of their old blueprint: a copy of a copy of a copy, as Mark J likes to say.

We already know that the evidence of our senses is only a clue to the truth, and may actually be wrong.

So what does Haanel say?

When you come to know that every form of disease, sickness, lack and limitation are simply the result of wrong thinking, you will have come to know “the Truth which shall make you free.” ….

… Your real work consists in convincing yourself of the truth of these statements. When you have succeeded in doing this you will have no difficulty in thinking the truth, and as has been shown, the truth contains a vital principle and will manifest itself.

(emphasis mine)

In other words, you don’t have to ‘work’ at manifesting the truth once you have it. However, there is a bit of mental work involved in breaking out of the “cement” – the mindless slavery to others’ ideas, opinions, and ideologies – then getting control of yourself to the point that you can look past relying only on your senses and experiences and begin to grasp your own destiny for yourself.

(for example, this month, Og Mandino tells us to master our emotions – easier said than done at times)

Haanel isn’t saying anything new; this is basically what he’s been saying the entire time. Last year, I didn’t get it, to be honest. I feel as if I’m just starting to understand what he’s talking about. I have had a lot of cement on there. 🙂

I do like this statement of his very much:

…you have no patient but yourself; you have nothing to do but to convince yourself of the truth which you desire to see manifested.

Isn’t that what we do every day? We believe certain things (whether or not they’re true) then live like they’re true, think as if they’re true, make choices as if they’re true, react to others as if they’re true … and what else did you think was going to happen? This thing you believe begins to manifest in your life!

And the things we think are imprinted on us from the time we’re born, when we’re not much more than just a subby ourselves, before the conscious mind can form enough to be a “watchman”.

Some people have overcome this alone, after decades of labor and heartache. Most people (like 99%) never even know how to begin. They just live feeling trapped and die regretting that they never did what they were born to do.

That’s why it’s so important to get help from like-minded people. To start examining your thoughts.

You know what I’m going to say. If you haven’t started on the 7 Day mental diet, why not? If you gave up, why? You’ll be a whole lot better, and you’ll have a great head start when the Master Key Experience comes around in September.

I love this quote:

It is never too late to be what you might have been. – George Eliot

Thanks for hanging with me another year. Be well.

We’re finished … so now what?

With the MKMMA class over, the question that you might be asking is: now what?

Mark and Davene wrote us an email a few weeks ago saying that a lot of people were anxious about what would happen next, but I have never felt that way (which surprised me!). I mean, this whole thing is supposed to be about SELF-directed learning and SELF-reliance and thinking for yourSELF.

Right??

So I figured once we were done, we were done.

But one thing I’ve wanted to do since about halfway through this course is to be an MKMMA certified guide, and the silence just confirmed that for me. I have several reasons I want to do this which I may share another time, but they keep saying they need more guides, so why would I not help? 😉

There’s going to be a presentation I think next week sometime to tell those of us who want to do that what is entailed in the training.

So what’s going to happen to this blog now? That’s what I wanted to talk about today.

I ran across something called My 500 Words, which is supposed to help you get writing.

Hint: I have no problem with that 😉

Anyway, you write 500 words a day on whatever you want.

This seems like a good thing to do on this blog, as I’m learning new stuff every day even though the course is officially done. We still have the Master Keys, I’m not nearly done with The Greatest Salesman, and so on.

For example, today I read the forward to the Master Key book again, and several things jumped out at me:

Why should some men realize their ambitions easily, others with difficulty, and still other not at all? The cause cannot be physical, else the most perfect men physically, would be the most successful. The difference, therefore, must be mental — must be in the mind …

The student who learns that power comes from within, that he is weak only because he has depended on help from outside, and who unhesitatingly throws himself on his own through, instantly rights himself, stands, erect, assumes a dominant attitude, and works miracles … (emphasis mine)

Mind is not only the creator, but the only creator of all there is …

Every thought brings into action certain physical tissue, part of the brain, nerve or muscle. This produces an actual physical change in the construction of the tissue. Therefore it is only necessary to have a certain number of thoughts on a given subject in order to bring about a complete change in the physical organization of a man.

… as these thoughts take root, the physical tissue is changed … (emphasis mine)

He sees opportunities of success to which he was heretofore blind. He recognizes possibilities which before had no meaning for him.

I believe that this is becoming the case in my life, and I may share more about that some other time.

So I’m not going away or anything.  I might not get to this every single day, but I’ll do my best. 🙂

See you tomorrow!

Week 16: We won the lottery!

Today I realized something: we are the most fortunate beings in existence.

First of all, if you believe in the transmigration of souls, you were fortunate to have been born human. You could possibly (if you believe such things) have been born a cockroach or a scorpion or an elephant.

Secondly, out of all the billions of sperm and millions of eggs that your parents could have provided to create someone, YOU were the combination that happened. What were the odds of that? Not only that, you survived the time in your mother’s womb, you were born into a place and around people that could sustain you in some way until you reached a time where you could take care of yourself, you live in a part of the world where there is literacy and computers (so you could read this), and you’re healthy enough to have the strength to do so.

Not to mention that it is really just as amazing that your parents and all your ancestors back to the dawn of time were born, and survived, so that you could finally be born.

As Og Mandino says: I am nature’s greatest miracle.

But that’s not the truly amazing part. You and I can think, we can reason, and we can imagine. According to Haanel, these three things separate us from all the other species currently on this planet. (remember, this was written in 1914) and is what makes us human.

Why?

Thought connects us with the Universal Mind, and imagination produces pictures of what we want (or don’t want), which set our subby (who doesn’t know the difference) into motion to create these things for us. Through our reason, we can have insight into what the most beneficial things are to imagine, what the consequences might be, and with the help of our subby, create plans of action.

Thought is creative, Haanel constantly says, yet he also says that through our reason we can control our thoughts, and what we imagine, and in so doing get hold of the the power of the Universal Mind for our good and the good of the world, rather than what he calls “mental chaos” — which was certainly my state before starting this course.

But that’s not the best part.

Want to know the best part?

We already won.

That’s what I figured out today during my sit: I already am “whole, perfect, strong, powerful, loving, harmonious, and happy”. I already have my PPN’s, True Health and Liberty. I just have not up to now accepted that and let go of what I don’t need anymore: the idea that I am somehow defective, the negativity, the fear, and so on.

I have the abundance of the entire Universe at my disposal.

I can do or be anything I choose to do or be, go anywhere in any manner I choose to.

I can reshape my body into whatever I want.

I already help others, and I already receive recognition for my work.

I ALREADY WON THE LOTTERY. And so did you. We just need to do what it takes to get the cash. 😉

This is not some zero-sum game, like the real lottery, where to win 110 million then 110 million people (or more) have to lose a buck. The Universe has boundless abundance in every category, more than all seven plus billion people in the world could ever think of using.

This is the sad part. It’s like if you lived in a hovel, never knowing that you were Bill Gates’ heir, that he had a billion dollar trust fund for you since you were 18, but when the postman comes to the door to deliver the papers and asks you to sign for them, you shut the door in his face over and over and over again, because you think it’s a scam.

So how do you get this wealth?

Remember the three things you have: the ability to think, the ability to imagine, and the ability to reason. Before anything else can happen, you have to change your thoughts. Thus, the mental diet. 🙂
