Stop trying to change your life and change it!

I want to ask you a question, and I want you to answer honestly: Do you really want to change your life? If so, why haven’t you signed up to the Master Key Experience? That the hundreds of hours you’ve spent trying to change your life and failing will suddenly all go away if you learn one new piece of information?

JUST STOP. Stop trying to change your life and change it!

You see, here’s the thing. Your subconscious mind has been programmed from birth for you to do what you do now, all the things you do now which are causing you to fail. You have NO control over your subconscious mind! So “trying” to change your life is just looking at the effect, not the cause – and it WILL FAIL.

There is not magic information which is going to change your life. YOU need to get the guidance to learn how to DIRECT your subconscious mind (NOT control it! Because you can’t, by definition) and convince it that you’re serious about things getting better.

And the ONLY way you can do that is to actually get serious about things getting better!

Only guidance

I only pray for guidance – Og Mandino

The past few weeks in the news have been horrifying in ways I can’t even describe, even if I were brave enough to. For the people involved and their families, it’s tragic, infuriating.

I only pray for guidance.

I have light skin and code (to most people) as “white”. What should I do? Is there anything I can do? Would the things I want to do, to say, just make things worse?

I only pray for guidance.

I do not identify as a skin color. My heritage is Creole. My family looks like the people who have died the past two weeks, on both sides of the issue. I fear for the lives of my family, that a person filled with hate may look at their skin color and decide they should die.

I only pray for guidance.

I have had my own run-in with a police officer, who took away so much, merely because they could. He knew he would never be caught or tried or even accused, because he had a badge and a gun and was male and had the might of the entire world behind him, and I was a teenage girl. It was over 30 years ago and I am still afraid when I see a police car behind me. The man who did that got a pension and a long life and died “a hero” simply because he wore a uniform.

I only pray for guidance.

I understand the hate. I understand the fear. It brings me back to those days as a small child after the Civil Rights Movement, forced busing, the gangs of kids attacking others who didn’t look like them because their parents told them those people had ruined everything, caused every problem. Those kids are grown now, and so are their victims, and they both HATE. So they tell their children, and their grandchildren, to beware of those people that don’t look like them, to hate them, to fear them, to stand up for their rights to not be afraid by the use of weapons, because that’s what we as a country value above all things.

I only pray for guidance. Because everything else is up to me.

I never pray for the material things of the world. I am not calling to a servant to bring me food. I am not ordering an innkeeper to provide me with room. I never seek delivery of gold, love, good health, petty victories, fame, success, or happiness. I only pray for guidance, that I may be shown the way to acquire these things, and my prayer is always answered.

I don’t have anything inspiring to say.

The Law of Attraction is no secret

You might remember that movie “The Secret”? I never saw it but as far as I can tell from looking on Wikipedia that the premise is that the Law of Attraction is a secret that is being suppressed by some sort of conspiracy.secret

Which makes no sense to me: if it’s really a “Natural Law” (as Haanel claims it to be over and over) then it is just as evident as any other.

I wrote last week about knocking a chunk of what we call “cement” off – basically, getting to a root of something from my old blueprint which had been holding me back from what I could be. The next day I watched a webinar about releasing money blocks with some fantastic tools in it which I was now in the mindset to be able to use. Two days later I sold over $1000 of courses from one of my websites.

Cause and effect? Or coincidence?

Does it matter? My credit card company doesn’t care; they just want their money. πŸ˜‰

Just for fun, let’s go backwards here. I’ve been pounding away on this particular website trying to make it profitable for over five years now. I’ve written hundreds of pages of information, and up to now, over 70% just clicked away from it. The particular course I sold all that with just now has been up and running for two years now. Barely a bite.

Could I have been attracting the wrong people, perhaps?

I haven’t changed much of anything on my website, except to make it more mobile-friendly a couple of months ago.

Anyways, I take the view that if something works, I don’t care about the details of why, unless it’s really relevant or interesting. I have too much to do with my life to spend time trying to analyze everything.

I’m pretty happy with this unexpected “experiment” – and this is making me think about my other experiment, which has been going on for over a year now. I’m making progress, but it’s not going as fast as I would like. Now I’m wondering why, and what different thoughts I might need to have in order to make it go faster.

You can do all this too: there’s no “secret” or “magic” about it. But first you have to begin looking at what you’re thinking right now, in real life. The secret to reaching your goals

I know many people think that there’s a secret to reaching goals. I used to think that too. Sometimes I still think that way when my old blueprint tries to sneak up on me.

These past two weeks were like that: I felt lost and foggy, which didn’t surprise me. This is often a bad time of year for me anyway, but often when I’m in a more structured environment and then that disappears, it takes a while for me to become more self-directed again. Many of this year’s students have been saying the same thing.

So while it felt uncomfortable at times, and I even began having doubts about some things I know I can have in my life (along the lines of could I really do them), I knew it would pass, because this sort of thing has happened before.

Is there really a secret to achieving goals?

Today I was reading in the Master Key and something jumped out at me in the foreword to part 9:

If you wish to change conditions you must change yourself.

Okay, I’m sure most of you are thinking: so how does one do that, exactly? Well, if you’ve been reading this blog for any length of time, this shouldn’t be too mysterious.

Hold in mind the condition desired; affirm it as an already existing fact.

Again, it boils down to: WHAT DO YOU WANT? You have to be specific. Literal. If a computer did what you just said and thought, what would happen? Because it will happen if you affirm it as an already existing fact.

We never question it when we do this in the negative sense (something like “why does this always happen to me?” – which is another affirmation as an existing fact) but for some reason people get all twisted around about doing this in the positive sense. As if there’s something weird or wrong about positive thinking.

But I digress.

Haanel goes on to say:

Character is not a thing of chance, but it is the result of continued effort.

Well, then. I guess I have slacked off a bit, and gotten off my target.

I’ve been feeling over the past few days that I need to lighten myself, to begin cutting things out of my life that aren’t getting me to my goals, that don’t advance my objective.

I feel this is another “secret” which people leave out when talking about the process of getting what you want. It’s all very well to have intention and ambition, but you can’t physically do everything you might have the whim to do (I’m looking at you, Facebook), for the simple reason that there isn’t time. You have to decide what stays in your life and schedule and what goes. I’ve done this before, but I feel as if that sort of pruning needs to happen again.

So I’m going through a time of refocusing, I think, which is always good.

Week 24: the truth

So what is “the truth”?

Ask twenty people and you’ll get twenty different answers, mostly involving whatever ideology was imprinted onto them as part of their old blueprint: a copy of a copy of a copy, as Mark J likes to say.

We already know that the evidence of our senses is only a clue to the truth, and may actually be wrong.

So what does Haanel say?

When you come to know that every form of disease, sickness, lack and limitation are simply the result of wrong thinking, you will have come to know “the Truth which shall make you free.” ….

… Your real work consists in convincing yourself of the truth of these statements. When you have succeeded in doing this you will have no difficulty in thinking the truth, and as has been shown, the truth contains a vital principle and will manifest itself.

(emphasis mine)

In other words, you don’t have to ‘work’ at manifesting the truth once you have it. However, there is a bit of mental work involved in breaking out of the “cement” – the mindless slavery to others’ ideas, opinions, and ideologies – then getting control of yourself to the point that you can look past relying only on your senses and experiences and begin to grasp your own destiny for yourself.

(for example, this month, Og Mandino tells us to master our emotions – easier said than done at times)

Haanel isn’t saying anything new; this is basically what he’s been saying the entire time. Last year, I didn’t get it, to be honest. I feel as if I’m just starting to understand what he’s talking about. I have had a lot of cement on there. πŸ™‚

I do like this statement of his very much:

…you have no patient but yourself; you have nothing to do but to convince yourself of the truth which you desire to see manifested.

Isn’t that what we do every day? We believe certain things (whether or not they’re true) then live like they’re true, think as if they’re true, make choices as if they’re true, react to others as if they’re true … and what else did you think was going to happen? This thing you believe begins to manifest in your life!

And the things we think are imprinted on us from the time we’re born, when we’re not much more than just a subby ourselves, before the conscious mind can form enough to be a “watchman”.

Some people have overcome this alone, after decades of labor and heartache. Most people (like 99%) never even know how to begin. They just live feeling trapped and die regretting that they never did what they were born to do.

That’s why it’s so important to get help from like-minded people. To start examining your thoughts.

You know what I’m going to say. If you haven’t started on the 7 Day mental diet, why not? If you gave up, why? You’ll be a whole lot better, and you’ll have a great head start when the Master Key Experience comes around in September.

Week 23: deep thought

As I mentioned in my last post, most people will do just about anything to avoid thinking.

I see it all around me: people asking questions when a two second Google search would do. Collecting opinions to see what everyone else thinks about an intensely personal matter.

I don’t believe it has anything to do with wanting to fit in – it’s about the fear of deep thought, an intense fear of what you might hear inside, if you would just stop and listen.

People are so … distrustful of themselves, of their own hearts, so wanting to control and avoid whatever they are so terrified might happen, that they would rather look unintelligent, dependent, and incapable than spend just a few minutes in deep thought.

Haanel puts it this way:

Β The average person is entirely innocent of any deep thinking; he accepts the ideas of others, and repeats them, in very much the same way as a parrot; this is readily seen when we understand the method which is used to form public opinion, and this docile attitude on the part of a large majority who seem perfectly willing to let a few persons do all their thinking for them is what enables a few men in a great many countries to usurp all the avenues of power and hold the millions in subjection.

If you’re here, I’m assuming you don’t want to be like the average person – instead, you want to make a difference, to improve your life, to make things better inside yourself and around you.

So why is thinking important? Who cares if we think or not? How does thinking benefit us?

Some of you are laughing right now. Others of you are serious. It’s the second group I want to address.

Bottom line: Silent, prolonged, deep thought is how you connect with the Universal Mind (Whatever you want to call it/him/her. Don’t get twisted up about the name.)

There is nothing mystical about it. Not one thing.

Have you ever been really focused on finding a solution to a problem then … AHA! … the answer comes to you? Remember that feeling. Hold onto it. What happened is called inspiration.

From dictionary.com:

Inspiration: noun. 5. Theology. a. A divine influence directly and immediately exerted upon the mind or soul.

Okay, now, if you don’t believe in divine influence, fine. But something happened there, something which is important, something we can use to our benefit.

Notice what happened before that AHA moment? You were exercising deep concentrated thinking. You were thinking very intently on your problem. And then BAM! – the answer came, as if out of nowhere. But it wasn’t out of nowhere. In that instant, you made the connection – to whoever or whatever you want to call it – and got your answer.

And you can get that answer again, to any question you want answered. Anything. World peace, end hunger, that one thing in your life you always yearned for, it doesn’t matter how big or small it is. You can get the inspiration … the answer to any question you have. You just have to learn how.

Now, I’m not saying I’m enlightened or achieve this all the time. If anything, I’m a student. But I’ve gotten the answers to things which frankly amaze me, things I very much wanted the answers to.

(that’s part of the equation, by the way – you have to really truly want the answer … which means getting the blocks like fear, etc out of the way first … )

You have a couple of choices. You can keep reading along and hope you can figure it out on your own. Or you can take a step forward into understanding yourself.

Week 22a: 11 ways to avoid thinking

When I was doing my Silence, it occurred to me that most of what we do is to avoid thinking.

So for those of you who aren’t interested in learning to think, control your mind, or have a better life, here are some wonderful tips on how to do that:

  1. Never do your Sit. It takes too much time. You’ve got better things to do. Besides, you can function just fine with your kids, partner, phone, TV and computer going all at once.
  2. Have every app on your phone send you notifications! You’ll be bombarded with noise from your email, messages and apps. How fun is that?
  3. Check your email, social media, and websites every hour. Every one of them. You know, just in case.black-892457_640
  4. Turn on the TV to a 24 hour news network and keep it on all day and all night. Put a TV in every room of your house. You never know what you might be missing.
  5. Never go anywhere without at least one person with you, especially someone who talks constantly.
  6. Better yet, you talk constantly. Stream of consciousness is good for you.
  7. Eat every hour, more if you feel like it. Between preparing, eating, and cleaning up, you’ll be constantly busy. Keeps you from having to think. And make sure you eat in front of the TV, computer, or both. You’ll never have to think then.
  8. Keep busy. Busy, busy, busy! Don’t ever take any time to yourself. You’ll get lots of praise and admiration from others for being so darn busy, plus you’ll have a great excuse for when you don’t want to do something.
  9. Your vice of choice, whatever it is. Smoking, drinking, gaming, and drugs are great ways to avoid thinking.
  10. If you are forced to be alone, for example, you’re driving somewhere or in the shower, make sure there’s something to listen to. Audiobooks, radio, your favorite tunes, whatever. They’ll stop you from thinking for sure!
  11. When you do think, it’s important to think of negative things. Worry a lot. Get angry. Feel sorry for yourself. Indulge all the negativity you can. That will be sure to keep you from thinking about anything useful.

So there you have it: eleven awesome ways to keep from thinking.

If this does not sound fun, useful, peaceful, or like anything you want, then why not try another way?

Week 21: the real battle

Many people would tell you a real battle is around every corner: what person is going to be President, what laws are passed about this or that, what happens to which celebrity.

We can spend our whole lives in outrage about one injustice or another, talking about it, obsessing over it, worrying about it, and end our lives never having accomplished anything that really matters to us. Our dreams, our aspirations, the things that we were born to create and do. Making a positive change in the world, instead of focusing on (and I believe, manifesting more of) the negative.

If you’d like to spend your life in outrage, or worse, on fictional outrage (around the latest soap opera, or movie, etc), that’s fine. Somehow I doubt you’re that sort, though, as most people who end up here are looking to change their lives and do something for the better. In order to do that, though, you have to understand where the real battle is.

It’s not over what some person did to some other person.

It’s not what law was passed about whatever.

It’s not about what TV character did what.

It’s not even about who’s going to be President.

So what’s the real battle?

What does Haanel say?

The real battle of life is one of ideas; it is being fought out by the few against the many; on the one side is the constructive and creative thought, on the other side the destructive and negative thought; the creative thought is dominated by an ideal, the passive thought is dominated by appearances….

… all men will have to take their place on one side or the other; they will have to go forward, or go back; there is no standing still in a world where all is motion; it is this attempt to stand still that gives sanction and force to arbitrary and unequal codes of law.

Cause and effect.

The real battle is in your head: the battle of ideas. Will you fight to become the woman or man you were born to be, or will you continue to be what everyone tells you you’re supposed to be? Will you become a creative, positive, and constructive thinker, or will you stay with the majority crowd of passive negativity and be part of the problem, manifesting the destructiveness we see around us every day?

It’s totally up to you.

It’s the most difficult fight you’ll ever face, what seems to be bucking the outer world, but in reality, you’re just battling to connect with your inner world and the might of the entire universe behind it.

Haanel makes the analogy of touching a live wire, but that didn’t seem like a very beneficial thing to me (having done so in the past and not enjoying it much). But the other day these couple of sentences from the Master Keys jumped out at me (thanks, subby!):

…Omnipotence itself is absolute silence, all else is change, activity, limitation. Silent thought concentration is therefore the true method of reaching, awakening, and then expressing the wonderful potential power or the world within.

shift-868980_640For some reason, this reminded me of when I first learned to drive. I was learning on a stick shift (manual transmission) and my engineer then-boyfriend (now husband) told me that the way it worked was:

  • the engine had a plate which was spinning – but if you do nothing, nothing will happen.
  • the drive train had another plate which was also spinning – also, if you do nothing, nothing will happen.
  • the clutch and gas pedals served to get those two plates spinning at the same speed then put them together so the power of the engine could be passed along to run the wheels. Then the car will move!

Whether this is exactly right doesn’t matter. What does matter is the concept of two different things coming together at the same speed, allowing the power of one to be transferred to the other.

So what does that quote up there tell us? That Omnipotence (or the universe, or God, or whatever you want to call it) is running at absolute silence. Like those two plates, we have to get ourselves to the same place as the universe is in order to connect, so the power can be passed along to us.

You can call this whatever you want. Some call this prayer, some call it meditation, it really does not matter. The world tells us, of course, that every word and label is vitally important and that we should be outraged about it, and fight and worry and fuss, and protest and feel persecution about it if others want to call it something else.

(Not much silence there.)

So do you have to get religion? Not at all. You just have to get quiet.

Now, that’s a real battle in and of itself! Between the TV and the cell phone and the family and the job and all the zillion things everyone tells you that you should be doing, finding a few moments for yourself can feel insurmountable. Then when we do get some time, we avoid silence, avoid thinking, by going on Facebook or Twitter or Netflix.

Am I right?

Here’s what you can do: when you have the urge to do something you know will waste time, instead, take 5 minutes of this (you can get a timer if you want), go somewhere quiet, and just sit.

You’ll be ahead of 99.99999999999% of the world who does not ever just sit and be quiet for 5 minutes.

And watch the fireworks begin.

Because your old programming and everyone associated with it HATES when you do this. You’ll find every reason in the book not to. You’re really getting something done when you post pictures of cats on Facebook! People will think you’re weird! Blah blah blah.

That’s why it’s a battle πŸ™‚

But this battle for yourself is certainly worth it! And you’ll be taking a tiny baby step into learning more about who you are, who this Universe thing is, and if you’re very quiet, the two of you might even connect. How cool is that?

Week 20: failure is impossible

This week has been interesting so far: I’ve been able to accomplish quite a bit. But I’ve had my share of what seemed like failure along the way, too, just like anyone else.

This week, though, I was reading Part 20 of The Master Keys, and Haanel said something which struck me (he’s referring to our subconscious mind):

Our failures are a result of the operation of exactly the same principle; the principle is unchangeable; its operation is exact, there is no deviation; if we think lack, limitation, discord, we shall find their fruits on every hand; if we think poverty, unhappiness or disease, the thought messengers will carry the summons as readily as any other kinds of thought and the result will be just as certain. If we fear a coming calamity, we shall be able to say with Job, “the thing I feared has come upon me”…

And I thought:

Where is the failure here?

The “calamity”, as Haanel puts it, is neither a failure of the subconscious mind nor a failure of the law of attraction, is it? They both worked, just as if you jump off of the roof, you can’t say it was a failure that you hit the ground.

When I read this, I realized that there is no such thing as failure when it comes to the law of attraction, just as there is no failure when it comes to the law of gravity. It will work every time. What actually happens depends on the choices you make.

I was going to title this week’s blog post as “staying positive in a negative world”. But it seems to me that all over the world, people are doing exactly what Haanel mentioned above: thinking lack, limitation, and discord. And then they wonder why this is manifested in their lives. It’s simply because they don’t understand the law.failure

Now it seems a bit silly if you really compare it to the law of gravity: who in their right minds would jump off of the roof and expect not to hit the ground?

But it’s just that lag time between the thought and the manifestation which makes it so vital to understand all this. If you have been negative, you have time to start changing your thoughts so as to modify or even change the result that is coming for you as inevitably as the ground.

Like the aphids, we can grow wings.

Haanel later adds:

Every time you think you start a train of causation which will create a condition in strict accordance with the quality of the thought which originated it. Thought which is in harmony with the Universal Mind will result in corresponding conditions. Thought which is destructive or discordant will produce corresponding results. You may use thought constructively or destructively, but the immutable law will not allow you to plant a thought of one kind and reap the fruit of another.

That’s the whole point of the Master Key Experience, in my view (should I dare to state an opinion here πŸ˜‰ ) – getting us off the tracks for “the thing I feared has come upon me” and onto the tracks of the things we want in our lives.

You have to stop thinking of failure in order to succeed.

I don’t know about you but two years ago that would have seemed impossible to me.

You might be thinking right now, “What do I do then? Am I doomed? I don’t want to fail! I don’t want bad stuff to happen because of my thoughts … but I feel powerless to control them.”

No! You’re not doomed! The first thing you need to realize is that you are not powerless. You can begin the way we all began in the Master Key Experience: by being an observer.

Watch your thoughts. Don’t judge them, don’t say “this thought is good/bad”. Don’t beat yourself up about them. Just watch them.

Watching your thoughts is much easier than changing them, but although it’s still pretty hard to do consistently, it’s the most important first step you can take.

I’m here to tell you that you can do it. If I can do it, anyone can. πŸ™‚

Week 19: overcoming fear

This week we got a few tips from Mark J on overcoming fear, which I found particularly relevant right now.

Haanel also talks about overcoming fear in the preface to Part 19. I never really understood why he did this, or what it had to do with the rest of Part 19. Until today, it seemed random.

Later, Haanel writes:

In seeking the truth we are seeking ultimate cause; we know that every human experience is an effect; then if we may ascertain the cause, and if we shall find that this cause is one which we can consciously control, the effect or the experience will be within our control also.

It occurred to me this morning that fear, rather than being a cause, is an effect.

Now, I’ve talked about causes and effects before, because that’s what this class really is about: determining the effects we want (our DMP and PPNs) then understanding the causes and how to produce them so we get those effects (or results).

So why am I finding all this fear-overcoming stuff so relevant? I mean, I’m a Certified Guide in the Master Key Experience! I have a big S on my chest and a cape and everything. πŸ˜‰

(if you believe that, I also have a bridge to sell you … on sale, today only!)

But in my old blueprint, I’m a big fat fear-bucket, and the old blueprint must be where this is coming from. Because my future self, my true golden self, is afraid of nothing.

Now, when I watched the video this week where Mark went over the fear-curing tips, it also occurred to me that I have had those tips for a full year now. I have no excuse. And the question came up again this morning: So why have I not been using them?

Here are some ideas I came up with:

  • was fighting fear with those simple tips straying too far from my old blueprint?
  • was there something inside that wanted to keep life safe within those old boundaries? (even if that doesn’t serve me anymore?)

I felt as if I was getting somewhere. So I began to write out my fears:fear-1027574_640

  • it’s all too big; I can’t change
  • I will change and lose who I am. Which is silly, if you think about it: I’m trying to become my true self; by definition, this IS who I am – who I was meant to/made to be, who I used to be before people told me I wasn’t. This is why we love babies so much, by the way, because they are their true authentic selves.
  • I’ll get dragged back into an abusive situation if I don’t keep my guard up

There is a whole lot of backstory into that last one, involving every kind of abuse basically since I was born, 14 years in a high-maintenance fundamentalist so-called “Christian” cult, and so on. Because of that, even now, 10+ years out of that situation, I’m very very wary of anything labelled “spiritual”, any kind of hierarchy, anything using Scriptures, or any kind of situation where one person has control over a lot of others, where they’re applying pressure or influence to coerce others to do things in the name of “spiritual growth”.

But I haven’t trusted my subby’s power of discernment. I haven’t trusted my own growth or my ability to thrive without my old blueprint to compel me. I haven’t understood (or believed in) my own power. As Haanel states in the preface:

…the way to overcome fear is to become conscious of power.

What is this power?

You may know that thought constantly, eternally is taking form, is forever seeking expression, or you may not, but the fact remains that if your thought is powerful, constructive, and positive, this will be plainly evident in the state of your health, your business and your environment; if your thought is weak, critical, destructive and negative generally, it will manifest in your body as fear, worry and nervousness, in your finance as lack and limitation, and in discordant conditions in our environment.

Our power, our birthright if you will, is to use our thoughts to change our environments. As far as we know, animals don’t do this (with the exception of creatures such as ants, bees, wasps, etc, who create their own homes out of nothing, and possibly the burrowing animals such as rabbits).

So what does that quote tell us? That our thoughts are the cause. Once we become conscious of the power to control our thoughts, and gain the ability to do so, we have the power of overcoming fear.
